Jewelry Care Guide
At Kriz, we craft our jewelry with premium 925 Sterling Silver and authentic gemstones. While silver is durable, it is a precious metal that requires a little love and care to maintain its brilliant shine for a lifetime.
Follow these simple steps to keep your Kriz jewelry looking brand new:
1. The Golden Rule: “Last On, First Off”
Last On: Always put your jewelry on after applying makeup, hairspray, perfumes, and lotions. The chemicals in these products can cause the silver to tarnish or become dull.
First Off: Take your jewelry off before showering, swimming, or doing household chores.
2. Keep it Away from Water & Sweat
Avoid wearing your silver jewelry in swimming pools or hot tubs, as chlorine can permanently damage the metal.
Remove your jewelry before exercising, as sweat can speed up the tarnishing process.
3. Safe Storage
When not in use, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place.
Pro Tip: Use an airtight zip-lock bag or the original Kriz box to prevent exposure to air (oxygen), which causes silver to oxidize and turn black.
Keep individual pieces separate to avoid scratches.
4. How to Clean Your Jewelry
Gentle Polishing: Use a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth or a specialized Silver Polishing Cloth to gently rub the surface.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use toothpaste, baking soda, or strong detergents, as they can scratch the delicate surface of the 925 silver.
Gemstones: For rings with emeralds, rubies, or sapphires, use only a damp cloth to wipe the stones. Do not soak them in water.
5. Dealing with Tarnish
Tarnishing is a natural process for 925 silver when it reacts with moisture and air. If your jewelry starts to look dark, a quick polish with a silver cloth will bring back its original luster instantly.
